Dancer shot dead by drunk guest at marriage function

A 24-year-old dancer of an orchestra group was shot dead by a drunk guest at a marriage function in Maur town late Saturday night. The guest allegedly shot Kulwinder Kaur in the head when the troupe stopped a group of men from dancing with them on stage.




Police registered a case of murder against six persons and have also identified the one who killed the woman from the CCTV footage at the venue. Bathinda SSP Swapan Sharma said Ashirwad marriage palace owner Jagsir Singh was arrested for allowing weapons on the premises.





The incident occurred when the orchestra group from Sardulgarh was performing at the wedding of a local commission agent Narinder Kumar's son. According to eyewitnesses, some guests at the function wanted to join the four dancers on stage but they were not allowed by the orchestra group. Angry over this, one of the guests, Lucky Goyal, who was allegedly drunk, fired at the dancers with his .12 bore gun, killing Kulwinder on the spot.




The victim's husbad Rajinder Singh said, "Narinder Kumar had booked the orchestra party for the marriage of his son. Some persons were dancing and tried to go on stage but were stopped. Lucky Goyal, who was also stopped, fired at Kulwinder. The bullet hit her in the head."



Kulwinder was taken to hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
